...
tuesday . . . started out terrible. i didn't sleep well monday night. no surprise there. i have a horrible time sleeping the night before leaving town. when it's for vaca i'm excited and anxious to hit the road, but when it's for work i lie awake over thinking everything and stressing. so i woke up feeling groggy and unrested. flying isn't my favorite (although i've gotten much, much better and don't mind it as much now), especially alone. truth be told, i'm kind of a home body. i'm most comfortable when surrounded by the things i care about most, and get anxious when i don't have them around to sooth me.
i managed to make it into work a little before 7:30am. my intention was to crack down and get as much done by 1pm. well, you know just how much life likes you to have a plan... let's just say several crappy things happened and my work day didn't go as i would have liked.
i was so cranky by the time i left. my love knew i was on a tear because i was just so grumpy, but he got me to take a moment to cool my jets. we ran a few errands together (cheesy, but we wanted to spend as much time together before i had to fly out. yes, we're like this even after 6 years!) and had a sushi lunch, then it was off to the airport and we were saying our goodbyes.
i mentioned how i don't like flying all that much. well, i usually do pretty good, but i think i'd had such a trying morning and was so stressed that i just wanted to cry the entire flight. on top of that, we hit turbulence pretty much the whole way. thank goodness it was a short flight. but we landed safely and cabbed it over to our hotel. i checked in, and went straight upstairs to change into my workout gear. i really just needed to blow off some steam.

i was starving after my sweat sesh. funny enough, i ran into my roommate for the week (she was checking in as i was leaving the gym), and asked me if i wanted to grab a bite. i couldn't resists, so i ran up and changed (she had people waiting), and we walked over to this italian restaurant. i had the grilled mahi over farro and veggies. proudly, i passed on dessert, even though they ordered a few yums for the table. after that, we walked back to the hotel and called it a night.

wednesday
hello Outdoor Retailer! it really is a great show. so many vendors, familiar and new to see. i was booked from 9am to 6pm and spent the entire day running here and there.
i did fit in a workout bright and early though! set my alarm for 5:45am and hit the hotel gym by 6am.

after the show comes dinner. meetings are all fine and dandy, but business is business, so everyone looks forward to meeting up with their favorite clients and catching up over dinner. a group of us went to this little tapas restaurant. it ended up being family style. the head of the table ordered for us all and we passed dish after dish around. i can't say i left hungry.
our group split up afterwards. half wanted to go out and tear up the town, and the other half (myself included) just wanted to call it a night. i went up to my room, showered, got my things prepared for the morning, called my love, and turned in. i knew i was way too tired to hit the gym before the show again, so i decided to set my alarm for a little later and allow for a few extra zzzzz's...

a few of us were invited to the Brooks Transcend unveiling party later that evening. it was spectacular! Brooks is my #1 fav running brand, so i have no shame in saying that i was over-the-moon excited.

next came dinner and it was stake-house night. we chit chatted over wine and an assortment of delicious dishes. full bellies all around!
a coworker/friend asked me to come along to the Teva party with him. Teva is known for throwing a jammin' good time, so of course i said yes! my plan was to go for a bit, maybe hop over to another group and hangout for a bit, and then turn in... little did i know, this would turn into an all night affair!! but i can't and won't complain. i had an blast!! didn't get back to our hotel until 2am!!

friday(s)... should be made for sleeping in. and sleep in we all did. it was past 8:30am before i moved from my bed. got up. packed my things up and got ready for the day. i walked over to starbucks for a much needed coffee pick me up. confession: i woke up craving a donut for some odd reason (they're not even a fav or mine), opened up my IG and what do i see? no less than 2 posts of the decadent sweet treat i was craving. when i saw an old fashion at starbuck, it was all over... i'll admit, that was the start of a snowball effect for the entire day...
next was the airport and a group lunch, since we arrived with plenty of time to kill. strike two came when i ordered a bloody mary with my salad. after a few days of being wined and dined, you'd think i would've had enough. but i was too happy to care, i was going home! this time, the flight was smooth and i was relaxed.
