i realized today that what stands between me and my fitness goals is having a social life. this summer has been so busy compared to last year. i feel like every weekend there's a friend to catch up with, a wedding or birthday party to attend, a relative in town...etc. i'm not complaining, i've had a great summer so far. it does make staying on track really difficult though. food, sweet treats, and drinks always seem to be involved. i'm not going to sit here and beat myself up, or guilt myself. life is for living. with that being said, i know that i will need to work even harder. there is no reason to pick and choose sides. it's not about fitness vs social life. i can and will have both, but need to stay focused on days that i don't have plans, and focus even harder on days i do, so that i don't go overboard and gorge myself on whatever happens to land in front of my face. phew! okay, now let's take a step down from the soapbox.
yesterday was an all-around good day. sat in bed for most of the morning blogging, browsing the interwebs, and really just relaxing. it was such a lazy morning i reached for a protein bar (Think Thin creamy peanutbutter. my favorite!) instead of making breakfast. by lunchtime, my body required sustenance, so i made myself a two egg white omelet with green and red peppers, cilantro, and salsa. then, it was off to the gym for a short cardio sesh. i tested out a new pair of Feetures socks that i got at OR. i'm not the biggest fan of socks in general, but these are so buttery soft and plush that i can see myself wearing these a lot more often when i run.
cardio:
25 min treadmill
my guy's cousins made a stop in town for the night. they've spent the last week road tripping from state to state and are making a grand loop back home. we met them for dinner and drinks, and spent the night chit chatting about the past three years. the night really just flew by. next thing we know, it's 1am and we're all beat tired and ready to call it a night. that's two nights this week i've been up waaay past my bedtime, and boy do i feel it! lol

today is my last day off before it's back to the grind, so i took full advantage of relaxing in bed all morning. started the day off right with plain greek yogurt drizzled with a bit of 100% maple syrup (i'm out of Stevia, agave and honey!) and a blended frozen banana. did a bit of laundry. watched a little junk-food tv and jammed to another killer cardio sesh (it's all my body wants to do lately, but it's back to weights this week).
cardio:
20 min treadmill
49 min elliptical
