we've got a stage five clinger!

i couldn't be more excited that tomorrow is friday. i usually work four 10's (monday through thursday), but i am now in what's called "holiday blackout" at work. essentially, everyone in my department is required to work five 8's from Dec 2nd through the 20th. we're only in the first of three weeks and i am already so ready to go back to my normal schedule. i realize that sounds so spoiled. it's more of a routine thing though. when i worked a standard five days a week, two days off didn't feel short at all. you can't miss what you don't know, right? on the flip side, being used to four long work days and three days off, the alternative really messes with my head and body. i feel 10x more exhausted.

part of that could be because i have a danged stage-five-clinger of a cold that will not shake. it latched on the week before thanksgiving and is still hanging around! i felt pretty okay at first, so i stuck to my usual routine. didn't miss a day of work (other than my planned holiday vaca) and didn't lessen the intensity of my workouts. the past few days though, i have felt 172% drained of all life! my congestions is clearing up, my nose isn't leaking like a faucet, and the sneezing fits have subsided, but my throat is still throbbing and i feel like the walking dead. dayquil is my friend. we will make it through this together . . .

on a completely unrelated note, i have a new favorite coffee shop hangout. i've stopped by for hot tea the past few days. it's known as a "hipster" type coffee shop, but i personally dig the atmosphere. good music. good vibes. scattered seating of both tables and sofas. it's one of those under-styled, yet artsy, cozy little shops. i went there and read for a little after work today, while waiting for the dude to meet me. it was a nice way to wind down for the day.

well, i hope you're all having a good week so far, and happy almost TGIF! :)
