august is here! welcome. :)
there are officially only 23 days left until my 29th birthday! holy smokes, batman! didn't i just turn 28??? eeek! time to start birthday brainstorming. what to do. where to go. and all that jazz.
work has been ridiculously busy. i'm surprised my little digits aren't numb from the fast-and-furious typing i have done all week. and if that isn't enough, sleep seems to have been avoiding me lately. at least restful sleep that is. i could barely pop my contacts in the other morning because my peepers were so sore and sleepy. did i let the week's stress keep me away from my oh, so sacred sweat sessions? nope. this girl still made time for yoga and spin. *insert clapping hands emoji*

| actually managed to remember to #selfie once this week lol |
but enough about my week . . . let's move on to my five friday favorites! i know, i know, it's been a while since my last, but they are sticking around. at least for now, although not as frequently as before. in fact, i am experimenting with a fff post every other week. gives me a little more room to play around with other types of posts since weekends are usually the only time i have to blog.

1. flower power
there is something so therapeutic about flowers, to me. no matter how my day went, coming home to a brilliant bouquet never ceases to make me smile. flowers always seem so happy to me. and happiness is contagious. this week, i chose a simple bouquet of vibrant golden-yellow daisy poms.
2. good vibrations
i have been positively obsessed with ingrid michaelson's newest single, "boys chase girls." i can't say for certain what it is about this song that makes me want to listen to it on repeat, but infinite repeat is exactly how this little lady has been enjoying it.
interestingly enough, she has been getting mostly positive feedback about the official music video. i hadn't seen it until recently, but love it. and i firmly stand behind her brilliant modern-day take on robert palmer's "simply irresistible." what are your thoughts? is her artistic restyling too much for even this day and age? or just right?

3. books
this girls has been on a bit of a book binge lately. my brain seems intent on devouring just about anything these little fingers can get a grasp of. currently, i am deep in the world of james patterson justice. a few others on my list for the year are:
a. the happiness project - gretchen rubin
b. wild - cheryl strayed
c. game of thrones - george r. r. martin (still toying around with the idea)
re-read:
d. miss peregrin's home for peculiar children - ransom riggs (so that i can follow it up with the sequal, hollow city, which i haven't read yet)
e. the narnia series - c. s. lewis
f. the harry potter series - j. k. rowlings (because it's HP and i am very much overdue for a re-read)
g. the bell jar - sylvia plath
h. brave new world - aldous huxley (one of my all-time favorites)
i. the giver - lois lowry (in time for the movie release)
j. where the heart is - billie letts
i just realized that most are books i've already read. no matter. a book is a book, is a book!
4. just for chuckles
because i mean, really . . . lol. can you imagine what the world would be like if we didn't grow out of that toddler phase?!
5. feel good words

i've been on a reader bender as well. in the past 2 weeks, i've read The Godfather (it was a re-read because this is such an incredible book), and the mountains echoed and Doctor Sleep. right now i'm reading summer sisters which is a reco from a fellow bloggy pal.
