when organized minds take over

started this train of thought last friday, but never got a chance to finish and post it.
............................................................
so i had my first goals session yesterday afternoon. thought i'd share. :)

it went even better than i was anticipating. coming up with a goal that could be easily put to pen and paper was much more challenging than i thought. i thought, and thought, and pondered some more. finally, it hit me, so i went in with the mindset of wanting to change my habit of being such a planner/dreamer to becoming more of a doer.

a little history behind that . . . i've always been organized. and that's not a bad thing. over the years though, i've noticed that i linger on needing to plan everything out (all the little details) before even beginning well, pretty much everything. the hitch with that is that i often times get stuck in "planning mode" and neglect actually starting. or on the flip side, overload and overwhelm myself with things to do, projects, tasks, this and that, which leads to getting nothing or little accomplished. self sabatoug. yup, i'm a pro at it . . . so what better to focus on than changing those habits and finding fulfillment and peace of mind.

my coach put it in the perspective of getting back to a "good life balance." which is kinda what i'm all about. she assured me that i can be a planner and a doer by tweaking my way of thinking and approach. and that by doing so, i can still allow for a bit of spontaneity . . . which truth be told, i can shy away from since i crave a but more organization and structure.
............................................................
so that's what i've been working on the past week.

my main task has been working on rearranging my weekly "to-do" list and breaking tasks up based on priority. that way i can then block out set times to accomplish only what falls between that timeframe. another big thing i'm focusing on is making sure to block out "me time," since i can be terrible at neglecting to make time for things that i want to do. apparently i am much better at making everyone else and their needs a priority. never really thought of it that way.

so yea, that's what i've been up to. that and traveling for work. flying home tomorrow, so i'll have another tidbit to chat about. :)
